ABOUT

Blake Matthew is an award-winning composer known for his work in film, video games, and trailers, with over 90 projects to his credit. His notable scoring credits include work on The Boy with My Son's Face (Lifetime), projects for the Vancouver Canucks, the feature film Infeccion, which premiered at FICG at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, and the horror anthology V/H/S 85 presented by Shudder. Blake also composed the music for the Web3 video game Tiny Colony, films such as Satanic Hispanics: Nahuales (Epic Pictures), CryptTV’s Mistress of Bones, and co-scored the popular Star Wars fan series Bucketheads.
Blake's music and sound design have been featured in trailers for Sonic 35th Year Anniversary (SEGA), Minecraft (Core Figures Toy Ad), Five Nights At Freddy’s (Blumhouse, Universal), Monkey Man (Universal, BRON Studios), Strange Darling (Miramax) and more. He is affiliated with the trailer music houses Alloy Tracks, Studio Rev and Transported Music. Blake has received four Leo Awards nominations, winning Best Music in a Motion Picture for his Infeccion score and Best Music in a Short Film for Bucketheads. He has received two nominations from the Canadian Screen Music Awards for Best Original Score for a Short Film and Best Original Score for Games and Interactive Media. In 2023, two movies he scored (V/H/S 85 & Satanic Hispanics) were featured in Fangoria, a leading horror genre magazine and media company.
Blake's collaborative spirit stems from his diverse musical background. He grew up playing in multiple bands, singing in choir for five years, producing electronic music, DJing, and opening for international artists. His work has amassed over 5 million plays across various streaming platforms. Blake is a member of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada and has apprenticed under veteran Canadian film composers Terry Frewer (Head in the Clouds, Garage Sale Mysteries) and Daniel Ingram (My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake). When he’s not writing music, you can find him spending time with his dog, working out, and enjoying nature.
